The Orlando Magic are riding a 3 game winning streak after defeating the Detroit Pistons Sunday night in the Amway Arena 96-105. Nikola Vucevic had a game high 37 points and 12 rebounds in a dominant performance. Evan Fournier, back and finally healthy, chipped in with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Terrence Ross contributed with 17 off of the bench, as the Magic controlled the game from start to finish. With four key pieces missing from the Magic roster, coach Clifford has done an excellent job in providing maximum output with what he has to work with. Now the team is 13 – 18, and in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference.
Jeremi Grant of the Detroit Pistons led the team with 24 points. The Pistons had five players in double figures, but bad shooting was the key component in the Pistons loss. The Detroit Pistons had more offensive rebounds, but was out-rebounded by 2 (49-51). The Detroit Pistons also shot bad from the 3-point line, shooting 11-40 in the contest (27.5%) Josh Jackson scored 17 off of the bench for the Pistons, who fall to 8-23 for the year.
The Orlando Magic look to continue their winning ways by facing the Pistons again Tuesday night. Four of the last remaining five games before the All-Star break are in the Amway Arena. On Thursday, the Orlando Magic will be on the road, facing the Brooklyn Nets and their high-powered offense. Once returning, they will face the “Spider” Donovan Mitchell and the league’s best team, the Utah Jazz.
